Northwest Round-Up

Just got back from a great trip with the kids to Swan River where we visited with family and attend the Northwest Round-Up.

These pictures say it all!

Whitefish Lake

Before leaving Swan, Papa, Der and the kids snuck in a trip up to Whitefish Lake.

Some pretty flowers on the island:

Lake Time

Since it was going to be a hot day, we decided to head up to Wellman Lake for the day.  The kids had a great day on the beach playing in the sand.

Then we had a weiner roast that Nana had packed for us:
Simba even enjoyed the lake:
In the afternoon, we went to 2-Mile Lake to try a little fishing:

There were a lot of butterflies at 2-Mile so I tried to get the "perfect" shot.   I did come out with a couple good ones.

Canada Day 2012

We went to Swan River to celebrate Canada Day.  Der's brother and family were visiting from the U.S. so we had everyone together again - it was great!  We went to his "local" brother's house for lunch where we had a good visit with everyone.  And Der took on his nephew in a little one-on-one.

Then we headed down to the Legion Park for some Canada Day fun:

After supper, we headed to the pool and waterslide at the hotel for some swimming fun.

Even though we didn't do this on Canada Day, we did go to Shivers to enjoy a yummy ice cream cone the day after.

Trip to Saskatoon

We made a trip up to Saskatoon to visit with a few friends that we hadn't seen in a long while.  We decided to splurge and get a hotel with a waterslide and the kids were very happy about it!  And so were we in the afternoons we were there - it was smokin' hot outside!

Here are Der, Kirsi and Aidan enjoying some pool time:

On Tuesday morning, we went to the Forestry Farm.  We got there early on so we were able to see the animals out and about.  The kids LOVED it!  They were so excited to try to find the different animals in each enclosure and they have all kinds of questions now.

View from our Garden

We inherited a beautiful backyard with our house.  When we arrived in August, most of the flowers from the perennial bed had already bloomed and it was just a sea of green goodness.  :D  So, we were anxious to see what the blooms were in store for us this year.  Here are some photos of what have been blooming the last few weeks in our flower bed:

This one is my personal favourite - can anyone tell me what kind of flower this is?
