Dance Class

Kirsi's good friend, Agustina, takes a ballet class and Kirsi has been wanting to go watch her for a long time.  Yesterday, we were finally able to join Agu at her lesson.  The teachers were so sweet and asked Kirsi to join in right in the beginning.  Since it was a new situation, Kirsi took a while to get warmed up.  She stayed outside the studio with Monica and me for the first half of the class and watched.  She did all the movements as the girls but with me.  Agu was dying for Kirsi to join them so when it was time to play a game called "Statues", Agu convinced Kirsi to come in.  I went in and the teacher was so sweet and explained everything to Kirsi so she understood.  Kirs was pretty nervous but once she was with the teacher and playing the game, she was focused on that and not on me.  So, I slipped out and got some cute videos.  We've posted them to our Photobucket account if you'd like to see them (email me for the password).  We can't post them here because there are the other little girls in the video also.

It was so, so sweet and it made my heart melt to see her dancing.  So beautiful!

Aidan & Mampato

After my graduation ceremony for my Master's Degree last night, we went to Burger King to celebrate.  :)  It was late and the kids were tired so we just went the fast food route.

Three blocks from BK, Aidan started to point out where the restaurant is.  "French Fries, right dere," he'd say.

So, we drive up and Dana places our order.  For some reason, we had to wait for a long time for the food.  Aidan, sitting in his car seat, started to get impatient for his beloved French Fries.  He would put his arms out to the side, palms up, and say "doing?"  That was his way of asking what the BK guys were doing.  He couldn't believe that it was taking so long.
This morning, I crawled into bed with Aidan at 5:30, his usual waking up time lately.  He went back to sleep for a little while and while he was sleeping he said "strawberries, yum, yum, yum."
Two weeks ago, we went to Mampato, a local, small amusement park.  The kids had a great time.  Kirsi would go back every day if she could.  Here's some photos of our fun day.

Wedding, Mother's Day, and life in general

Long time no blog!

About 5 weekends ago, we were invited to Pascuala's son's wedding (Juan y Natalie).  We drove out to Maipu for the ceremony.  It was a real privilege to have been invited since it was a small wedding and we weren't family. Our babysitter had to cancel unfortunately so Dana and I missed the reception but it was nice for the kids to be there.

On Mother's Day, Aidan, Kirsi and Daddy took Mommy to the Buin Zoo after church.  It was beautifully hot autumn day and a lot of the animals were quite active, especially the ones in the Nocturnal House.  Going to the zoo on Mother's Day has become our Chilean tradition, going on 3 years now.

Going to the Buin Zoo on Mother's Day has become our Chilean way of celebrating Kirsi and Aidan's great Mommy!

What's new with us?

Not a whole lot, really.  I mean, yes, the shippers will be here in 3 weeks and yes, the moving sale will be happening in 4 weeks and yes, we will be leaving this country in 5 weeks.  But, you know.  Actually, it really is going smoothly.  We started the whole process early which was the key.  Once we knew we'd be moving to Jamaica, we got the shippers booked in February and then the moving sale ladies.  That eliminated a lot of the pressure when you wait till later.  We've had lots of different lists of what needs to get done and when.  We know what we need to do to take Simba with us - which all happens the last week anyways - and also for all the bills.  It's been time consuming but at least I've been able to work at it slowly, a little bit here and there.  We're feeling really good about it all.

Kirsi and I went to the dentist again this week.  She had to get a fluoride treatment on her teeth and she did great!  She was nervous but she held one of the stuffed animals the dentist had there and my hand.  The dentist kept saying how good she was being.  After Kirsi's appointment, I went back for the dentist to check out the tooth that's been bugging me ever since he filled it a few months ago.  It turns out that the filling is close to the nerve and that's why it's bugging me.  Solution?  Root canal.  Lovely.  So, I'll have to get that scheduled in soon before all the action starts happening.

Aidan is talking up a storm now and his sense of humour is coming through.  Last night, he came up to me with a fake flower and went to poke me in the nose with the stem, all the while saying, "Pick your nose."  What a kid!  :)  He'll go around doing something he's not supposed to be doing and then says, "Teasing".  He's also getting into EVERYTHING now, I mean everything.  It's like he's searching for danger.  He's going to give me a heart attack before long!

Der is THIS close to finishing his master's so he's super happy, and I'm so proud of him.  He's managed to get it done with having two kids and still managing to get home and spend time with them.  It'll be so nice for him to have it done.

And me, well, I'm still scrapbooking and loving it.  It's truly become a passion of mine and I love to use it as my creative outlet.

That's it for us.  I'll try to update a little more often.  :)
